Center Fin Box

Initially, all I wanted to do was create finboxes for my boards: Bruce Jones Surfboards®, Jones Shapes surfboards and Arroyo Surfboards. I wanted a regular finbox…one that functions similarly to others already on the market, but with some distinct differences. Firstly, I wanted to make color a specific attribute and USP of the box and brand. I can provide these finboxes in virtually any color you need. Pantone matching is an option at extra cost, but I am able to order dyes in a broad range of RAL color codes (get in touch if there’s a color you’d like to see). It was also important to me that the insert washer be easy to install and remove so I added a slanted insert channel as well (see photo below).

I also wanted to approach the design from more of a composites perspective and have added glass and natural fibers to the finbox during molding. This gives the finbox an extra an extra aspect of reinforcement that the rest of the market isn’t talking about. It also makes it easy to sand and keeps the box from melting under your grinder as you sand it flush to the board.

Going through the creative process for this product and chatting with other shapers made me realize that others could be interested in the product. The Hangtime Surf finbox can be installed through the conventional process without changes any methods. It is available globally to board builders big and small. Get in touch for a quote.
